The Jacksboro Lions Club members donned their “man aprons” and heated up the fryers for the annual Fish Fry this past Thursday to kick off the Rodeo weekend. With pans of catfish, hushpuppies and slaw ready to go, the club members fed a full crowd. With the assistance of Jack County Sheriff Melvin Mayo and former Sheriff Danny Nash, the many “outdoor chefs” made darned sure that nobody left hungry. Diners were entertained with a perfect seat to watch the Rodeo Parade as they feasted on the fare, and the weather was just right for families to gather under the shade of the Courthouse trees to sit back and enjoy the evening together. The fish fry is an annual event hosted by the Lions Club, with assistance from the Jack County Sheriff Office and the Jack County Courthouse. Although another 363 days or so away from the next one, the JCNE staff would offer this as a suggestion…perhaps a practice or 2 during the months to come would be a great way to keep in “Fry Shape”… Our staff would happily assist in eating what you cook!
