The Perrin Community Club held its annual benefit this past Saturday at the high school. Friends and neighbors gathered together to enjoy an evening of FABULOUS food (steaks, baked potatoes, salad and a wide variety of desserts) as well as entertainment. A live auction brought about quite a contest as bidders tried to out-do their “competitors” in order to walk away with the prize! “Auctioneer for the night” and former PWCISD Superintendent Darren Francis kept the action on the floor entertaining as he coaxed the bids higher, with the help of his ring-man, Jesse Laine (ag teacher at Perrin High School). Throughout the evening a silent auction was held, and there again, bidders watched their bid sheets diligently hoping to get the final bid as the time ran out. Donated items were collected from the around the Perrin area, with items from Jacksboro, Perrin, Graham and Mineral Wells (donations from both businesses and personal donors). Community Club member Ashley Hamilton stated “We had so many businesses willing to support our kids by donating. The money we raise will help kids in FFA this coming year, and the help and support is greatly appreciated”. Hamilton, a former Perrin FFA student herself, knows the time and effort these kids put into showing an animal. Along with husband, David, the Hamilton’s own RAD Show Goats, of Perrin. The Hamilton’s have been known for helping kids enter the show ring and have mentored several with their projects.
The night was topped off with a drawing for a Kawasaki Mule 600, won by Tom Greenwade, from Wichita Falls.
