In today’s world of “over the top” events from birthday parties that include circus acts to graduation parties at 5 star hotels, the students at the Perrin High School took a step back in time on April 16th. Instead of the usual overpriced, under appreciated prom that is the norm for kids (not necessarily those from PHS…) this group of juniors and seniors took the floors of the high school gym to celebrate the coming of spring and the leaving of friends that they have known “forever”. Parents, students, faculty members and community pitched in to decorate for what would be a memorable evening.
With favorite local DJ, Kenny Salazar, leading the party the kids went from their formal shoes to their “boogie shoes” in high style. The theme for the event was “Masquerade” and the formal attire worn by those attending was both classy and chic. The students and chaperones enjoyed a variety of finger foods and other refreshments throughout the evening.
The Homecoming King and Queen were crowned, maybe not a big surprise to folks around the Perrin community. Jared Holmes and Maddison Richardson receive the honors. Both students are very well known in the community for their scholastic achievements as well as sports, FFA, and a host of other leadership roles. Holmes, a weight lifter, has raised the bar in his sport, setting numerous records. Richardson, also an athlete, was a member of the high school girls softball team that just ended a great run into the playoffs.
