Small Businessman finds himself on world stage, and in Victory Lane

Karnuth magOne would imagine that being in the middle of all this would make for a power trip, and for most it might. Jeff Karnuth isn’t like most others though, and the friendly outgoing man welcomes customers (and media personnel) alike with a warm greeting and offers of cold drinks to make them feel at home. Karnuth is still “hands on” from showing potential customers different awards to helping long-time employee, Lenny, put together trophies and all things in between.  Recent jobs include the plaque that will be mounted on the wall at Victory Lane at TMS to commemorate the winner of the Firestone 600,the Indy car race which was finally able to be completed on August 27th. The plaque was engraved at the shop this time, due to a mechanical issue. Normally the aai team is found engraving the name just moments after the finish of the race. Plaques are then mounted onto the wall by the winner themselves, in a tradition started by TMS when it opened. The Winners Wall engraving is done in what is considered an “old school” style, which completely fits the NASCAR theme.

Karnuth and company have found themselves involved in one particular event they take an extra bit of pride in. The Guns and Hoses Boxing tournament (scheduled for September 10th in Allen) is a favorite. Karnuth beams when he speaks of his and the company’s involvement. “I love who the tournament benefits, the families of fallen heroes” says Karnuth “They deserve all we can give”. Aai goes beyond being just a vendor for the tournament, they are sponsors of the event as well. Giving back to a community that has seen more than its share of tragedy in the past months. Karnuth takes it personally, and feels that there is always more that can be done.

Perhaps his attitude is the inspiration that propelled the team to earn recognition from their peers, worldwide. In July they were given the Golden Obelisk Award as the 2015 Large Business Retailer of the Year.
