The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for Jack County and surrounding counties that will be in effect from Wednesday evening until 6am Friday (January 5th). At 7 pm Wednesday, the streets were damp but driveable in Jacksboro, but reports coming from travelers from the outskirts of the county reported the roads to be getting worse. The threat of winter weather caused the closure of the Jack County Courthouse on Wednesday. With a number of county employees living out of town, the decision to close caught a few people by surprise. Only time will tell if Old Man Winter decides to visit. One can only hope he passes through and doesn’t set up camp in our area.
We will be updating throughout the days to come, on our website and social media. As always, it is recommended that you only travel if necessary, cover any exposed water lines, make sure pets are able to get out of the weather and watch out for slippery steps and sidewalks.
